If It’s Ever Too Much…

It’s happened to all of us. You go to your local dispensary, get a few cool products, and then head home to enjoy them. But suddenly, you find yourself feeling way too high, so much so that the experience is anything but enjoyable. If you’ve ever had that uncomfortable feeling of being “too high” (and yes, there is such a thing as that), you’re not alone. No matter if you’re a seasoned cannabis user or just have a low tolerance, this resulting experience can turn off even the biggest cannabis fans. But not to fret, there are a few ways that you can try and remedy this feeling.

At Empire Health and Wellness, we’re here for all your cannabis and CBD needs, but we understand that sometimes that cannabis high feeling can become way too much. Luckily we’ve compiled a list of tips and tricks to help get back to feeling normal, and here it is!

Don’t Freak Out

Okay, okay, we know that if you tell someone not to panic when they’re panicking, it doesn’t help. BUT, one of the major keys to feeling normal after getting too high is to try and relax. Most symptoms of getting too high will start to dissipate within minutes to hours with no lasting effects beyond a little bit of grogginess. There also have been zero reported deaths related back to cannabis overdose, so not to worry, you will be just fine.

Try Water and Light Snacks

We all know smoking can give you a serious case of dry mouth, so hydrate, hydrate, hydrate! The action of drinking water, or whatever beverage you decide to consume, will help you subconsciously focus on the act of drinking the beverage. Since you’re concentrating on something else, it can help you start to feel a bit more grounded. You can also try snacking on something light, like nuts, cheese, or fruit. Same thing as the water: the act of chewing can help take your mind off the feeling of an overwhelming high.

Rest Up

Giving yourself a comfortable place to rest and breath deeply can help make all the difference. We understand that this is not always an option if you’re at a friend’s house, but excusing yourself for some quiet time can help you relax and let your body settle down to normal. Try and focus on the sound of your breathing, inhaling and exhaling in even tempos. If you feel sleepy, let your body fall asleep; don’t try and fight any of the symptoms you’re feeling.

Peppercorns

This one may sound a bit funky and we understand why, but hear us out! If you’re finding yourself feeling paranoid or anxious due to excess cannabis consumption, pepper may be the answer. The great thing is that this is easy to find, so find some pepper and lightly take a sniff. Do not snort it, just lightly sniff some, or if you have whole peppercorns, you can try chewing on them. It should help take away the feeling, and if you still don’t believe us, read this article

Try Some CBD

If you are feeling anxious, CBD can be an excellent way to combat that feeling. Try using a topical cream or putting a few drops in some water. However, if you do try CBD, make sure that you are using just a CBD product and that there is no THC in it or you’ll just be adding to the high, which is something that we don’t want to do.

Get Moving

Now we’re not saying you need to hit the gym and get in a crazy workout, but getting up and taking a brisk walk around the house may help. Getting your blood flowing can help get rid of that fuzzy high feeling. However, do be careful. If you’re feeling dizzy or start getting light headed, sit down and don’t force yourself to do anything. But if you can, a light walk might help!

While we have listed some tips and tricks, remember, if you ever really feel as if you are in a life threatening situation, call 911 and seek proper medical treatment. It is better to be safe than sorry. It is also important to know your limits when it comes to cannabis. Start off slowly with a product if you’ve never tried it before and remember you can always add more, but  you can’t take away.
